This piece has some extraordinary atmospheric effects from the gas kiln. Glazed in shino and satin white in a 'splash' style where the lower glaze (shino) is left partially exposed on the outside. The exposed shino turned grey in spots from "carbon trapping" and the white satin shifted pink and green in places. This kind of glaze effect is the result of the unpredictability of gas firing and evidence of the handmade and one-of-a-kind nature of the work.
